Dead Rising: Chop Till You Drop

Dead Rising Wii: Chop Till You Drop is coming to the Nintendo Wii this winter. The controls seem great from what we have seen so far and it’ll be worth the wait. I am very surprised Nintendo is allowing this on the Wii, considering how family friendly the system itself is. If you’re curious as to what the control scheme is, here it is:

The Wii version of the hit Xbox 360 zombie killing sim using both the pointing and motion detection capabilities of the Wiimote. When using a gun, you aim directly with the device and fire away. Your targeting reticule turns red to indicate when you’ve reached the enemy’s weak point and can dish out massive damage. To reload, you shake the Wiimote.

You also make use of shaking controls when you get grabbed by zombies. To shake yourself free, you shake the Wiimote. Simple enough!

Other weapons appear to use the Wiimote in specific ways. When using a bat, for instance you can shake the Wiimote to build up a meter and ensure that your next swing is a home run.

Motion controls aren’t used when using a weapon with a targeting scope. When you zoom in for a close view before firing, you move your viewpoint around with the nunchuck analogue stick and zoom in and out using Z and C.

To deal with all the weapons, you’ll be able to use the Wiimote’s d-pad, assigning weapons to the four directions as hot keys.
